It Takes More Than One Medium To Tell A Story

There’s more than one medium that can tell a story.

With so many outlets at your fingertips you can get unlimited mileage for one story. You don't need a magic wand to create multiple stories. The trick lies in making sure the message fits the medium.

Well, there is one more thing. The message needs to be consistent and congruent with your communication goals to ensure you’re not scrambling your story.

Whether you’re working with a company or nonprofit, you can no longer afford to interrupt your customers, donors and volunteers. It’s more effective to reach your audience where they are and invite them to join a conversation, attend an event or to take desired action.

Knowing which social media platform your customers prefer is a good start. You don’t need to hatch your stories on every platform, just the most visible ones. Ensuring message tone and frequency fit the medium will greatly increase your success.

While securing coverage on TV and radio or a story in a newspaper or magazine adds credibility, you can’t always count on getting press. By posting on your website, social media, YouTube and blogs you become your own multi-media mogul. You have the power of print, video and the Internet at your fingertips.

Your audience is all ears . . . and eyes.

Hop to it!
