HELPING THE HELPERS
Mr. Rogers taught us to find the helpers.
Now, the helpers need our help.
Due to budget cuts and the elimination of available grants, the nonprofits our community relies on to help those in need are in need of our support more than ever before.
Find out which organizations help a cause you care about, find out what they need and do what you can. Every little bit adds up.
No one can fix everything. However, each of us can do something to make a positive impact.
· Share the stories of the asks from nonprofits.
· Volunteer
· Create a fundraiser.
· Organize a collection for needed items.
· Donate, if you can.
There is a list of many local nonprofits at the end of the Vegas Inc 2024-25 Giving Guide.
One thing to keep in mind is that some nonprofits serve other nonprofits in addition to the community.
For example, Three Square serves tenants Hebron, a Caridad-managed property that offers that offers low-income housing and programming for Veterans, formerly homeless and seniors on a fixed income, along with many other nonprofits.
Throughout my career I’ve worked at and with many nonprofits, including serving on multiple boards and committees. Even during good times, nonprofits rely on help from the community. Yes, they need funding but they also need a lot more. Visit their website and find out how you can help, then reach out.
In 2002 I founded Blue Cube Marketing Solutions to transform the way companies approach communication strategy and community engagement. By helping companies and nonprofits strategically align is good for business and the community. Business is personal and one of the best ways to build a relationship with customers, employees and the community is to bond over the passion for a cause.
Research shows that companies who are involved in their communities enjoy:
• increased employee satisfaction and retention;
• enhanced image in the community;
• increased market share; and
• a better place to live work and conduct business
• more press coverage
Every individual and company can be a good neighbor by giving back to the nonprofits who support our community.
